Being a Parent With ADHD: Navigating parenthood with ADHD

Online Webinar

Most of the conversation around ADHD and parenting focuses on how to support a child with ADHD. But what happens when it’s the parent who has ADHD?

Parenting is demanding for everyone, but ADHD can add another layer. The routines, organisation, endless mental load, emotional regulation, sensory overwhelm and constant need to juggle everyone else’s needs can feel particularly challenging when your own brain works differently.

This session looks at parenting from the perspective of the parent with ADHD.

We’ll explore some of the challenges ADHD can bring to parenting, including overwhelm, executive functioning, emotional regulation, guilt and the pressure to parent in ways that don't always work for you. We’ll also look at the strengths that ADHD can bring to family life, and how understanding your own needs can help you find approaches that work better for your whole family.

This isn't about becoming a more organised, more patient or “better” parent. It’s about understanding yourself, letting go of some of the expectations that don't fit, and finding strategies that make family life feel a little more manageable.

A space to talk honestly about the reality of being an ADHD parent, rather than parenting a child with ADHD.
